Carnivores Trainer Cal O' Reese awarded the team, and the Chimps, with Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger Combos after the game. "Jack Jumbo Sizes the fries and drink for free, which made sense for us," said O' Reese. "Especially since the Chimps throw more food than they eat."

Wt.: 205
College: West Wilburn
Hometown: Halloway, Kentucky
Memorable Quote: "Just grin baby."

Steve Salsbury had dreams of playing football since seeing his first football game at 6 years old. His dreams turned into nightmares after seeing a televised football injury, but quickly turned back into dreams again after attending his first pro game. He was the starting Quarterback at West Wilburn University for three of the four years he was there. He was picked in the first round of the 1997 draft and has proved himself a born leader in his past four seasons in the League. Salsbury is also very active within the community, lending his financial and physical support to such programs as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America®.

bovine Wide Receiver: Bo Vine

Ht.: 6'1"
Wt.: 215
College: Ohio
Hometown: Point Reyes, California
Memorable Quote: "Patterns? I run more patterns than the fashion district!"

Bo Vine grew up on a pickle farm in Northern California with five brothers and three sisters. Vine, nicknamed "Divine" by his fans, began his career as a Wide Receiver when he was 10 years old for his local Pee-Wee League Football team. He was the starting Wide Receiver at Ohio his junior and senior years there and was picked up in the first round of the 1998 draft. Never one to be shy of reporters, "Divine" always has plenty to say. "Did you see me out there today? I caught more footballs than pioneers caught smallpox," jested Vine in a recent interview.

hoss Tight End: Butch Hendricksen

Ht.: 5'11"
Wt.: 211
College: Kronkite University
Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts
Memorable Quote: "There's nothing unnecessary about roughness."

Butch Hendriksen grew up with a football under his arm and the desire to succeed in his belly. He was featured in Sports Life's "Rising Stars" special report in high school and went on to play Running Back and Tight End for Kronkite University. He was drafted in the first round of the 1995 draft as a Tight End after only his junior year of college. A seasoned veteran, Hendriksen has led three different teams to the playoffs and now has his sights set on winning it all. Hendriksen is known for his obsession with extreme sports, many of which he has invented himself. "I like to live life on the edge," says Hendriksen about his extreme sports hobby. "And if there's no edge to live on, the top of a real steep incline will do."

mini Holder/Cornerback: Mike "Mini" Stroney

Ht.: 5'2"
Wt.: 115
College: None
Hometown: Beverly Hills, California
Memorable Quote: "Uncle! Uncle!"

Mike Stroney rocketed past college football and went straight to the Carnivores in last year's draft as a fifth-string cornerback, but his most useful asset is his skill as the place-kicking holder. His training as a ballerina gives him the graceful dexterity to catch and place a football for the kicker flawlessly every time. The key to the Carnivore's kicking game, however, is keeping Mike healthy. He sustained multiple injuries while traveling to training camp with the other players. "The other guys like to give me a little rookie year hazing," stated Stroney. "But it's nothing some wedgie tongs and a skin graft or two can't fix up."

arni Running Back: Arnie Asada

Ht.: 5'11"
Wt.: 191
College: Mill Valley State
Hometown: Wazoo, Washington
Memorable Quote: "The shortest distance between two points is up the middle baby."

Arnie Asada began his athletic career as a track athlete in high school. It wasn't until college that he discovered his gift as a running back and joined the Mill Valley State football team as a walk-on. He carried his team to two bowl victories and put up good numbers for a rookie last season, but Arnie is best remembered for his quirky personality. Obsessive-compulsive by nature, Arnie follows a strange dancing ritual before each and every game. Asada is also known for carrying a football with him everywhere he goes, inviting people to attempt to make him fumble it. He was once accosted by a small construction crew taking him up on the challenge, but managed to hold on to the ball throughout the 45 minute ordeal.

bob Punter/Kicker: Bob Shishka

Ht.: 5'11"
Wt.: 187
College: Southie
Hometown: Zeyes, Albania
Memorable Quote: "In my country, the only things made of pigskin are pigs!"

Bob Shishka journeyed to America all the way from Albania in 1996. A gifted soccer player in his native country, Shishka's football kicking abilities were discovered by a scout backpacking through his small village on the outskirts of Tirane. He was instantly sent to Southie College on a scholarship and snapped up as a Second Round Draft Pick a year later.
